An initiative to promote a culture of self-sufficiency, resilience, and solidarity through small-scale home gardens in the villages northwest of Jerusalem (Beit ‘Anan, Beit Ijza, Beit Hanina al-Tahta, al-Jib, and Beit Duqqu), areas that do not fall administratively under either Israeli occupation authorities or the Palestinian Authority. The initiative established three agricultural cooperatives in the villages of Beit 'Anan, Beit Hanina, and Rafat, in addition to planting 8 dunams of wheat across these villages. This year, the initiative will expand to support 60 women-led family farms, ranging in size from 3 to 5 dunams, by providing seedlings, seeds, and irrigation networks in accordance with ecological farming principles. This will contribute not only to alleviating economic burdens, but also to confronting annexation and settlement expansion, promoting a culture of women’s cooperatives, and moving toward the establishment of larger women-led agricultural cooperative initiatives.
